Do These Jeans Make Me Look Fat

We all have our celebrity crushes, our celebrity icons, our celebrity inspiration, and even our celebrity dream image. Our whole lives we have been presented with certain images that are supposedly the definition of "beauty", especially when it comes to body size. The human race is full of diversity; we come in different shades, heights, and appearances. We all seem to accept these aspects of diverse looks, however, the majority of us cannot accept the fact that we all naturally come in different body shapes.

The media has presented images that define beauty, that give certain subliminal messages. Some of these messages could be, "A woman is not beautiful unless she has a body like Shakira and can wear revealing clothes", or "A man isn't a man unless he can bench 250lbs. and has a body sculpted like Adonis." These sneaky messages that the media has imprinted in our minds are unwelcome and false.

Everyone was born beautiful, no matter what their bust, waist, and hip measurements are. We should not let these images of models in bikinis and shirtless guys in sports gear rule our own image of beauty. I watch a show on MTV called Awkward, and in one episode Sadie (who acts like a queen bee) displays her vulnerability by mentioning her weight. At one point she argues with her mother, who is badgering her to lose weight, and she tearfully responds with, "I just want to wake up and wear what I want to wear, and feel sexy." Even after Sadie makes this tearful confession, her mother then replies with something like, "I'm so sorry that you feel that way, but if you want to feel sexy, you need to start watching what you eat, are you still writing in your diet diary?"

Like Sadie, most of us have been persuaded that we are not the "body beautiful" because we can't fit into certain clothes. I feel like a beautiful woman every time I get into drag and feel confident every step that I take. I believe that everyone is beautiful, especially every woman. Women are discriminated against all the time, no matter what they're wearing. If a girl is thin with tight revealing clothing, some automatically assume she's promiscuous. Or if a young lady is full figured with baggy clothing they assume she is gluttonous. I personally do not find any of these assumptions true, I actually find them repulsive. Like I stated before, we are all born beautiful, no matter what society says, no matter what girl/guy from Biology says, you are beautiful, through and through.

Ladies: No matter what size you are, you are absolutely gorgeous. If you are feeling down, just go to the mirror and look at yourself and tell yourself that you are gorgeous, that you're a diva, that you're a strong and capable woman. DO NOT let anyone strip you of your womanhood. You were born on this Earth for a reason as a woman, you are strong and beautiful. You are PHENOMENAL.

Gentlemen: Do not let someone get you down because you don't have rippling abdominal muscles or defined arms. You are just as much of a man as any other man, no matter what. Now I'm not saying pick a fight with someone that calls you a wimp. I am saying, be proud of your masculine features, be proud of yourself. Pride is something no one can take away from you, because it is yours, no one else's.
