The country trio, Lady Antebellum, released their third country album September 13th to an eager audience. Their single hit, "Just A Kiss", went out as a teaser to country fans on May 2nd, 2011, receiving a wide span of attention and playing on country stations nationwide.
The trio came together in 2006 in Nashville Tennessee, quickly gaining popularity among fans and gaining ground in the country music industry. The three artists include Charles Kelley, who is the lead and backup singer, Dave Haywood, who plays guitar, piano, and preforms background vocals, and Hillary Scott, who also shares the role of lead and backup singer. The group gained even more attention when they scooped up the Top New Duo or Group at the ACM's in 2008.
The group released their first single in 2007 and followed it up with an original album. Shortly after, they were signed on to open for Martina McBrides' Wake Up Laughing Tour, building their fan base to an insane number in less than four years. In 2010, the group released their second album, "Need You Now". The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and made the Top Country Albums charts. They sold more than 480,922 albums and in just a handful of weeks, the album went platinum.
This album, titled "Own The Night", features twelve original songs. First on the list is "We Owned the Night." This song is perfect for opening the night. It's sentimental and upbeat, the lyrics and guitar blending together perfectly. Next is "Just a Kiss," "Dancin' Away with My Heart," "Friday Night," "When You Were Mine," "Cold As Stone," "Singing Me Home," "Wanted You More," "As You Turn Away," "Love I've Found In You," "Somewhere Love Remains," and "Heart of the World."
Some of my particular favorites include "We Owned the Night," "Friday Night," and "As You Turn Away." "We Owned the Night" is upbeat and individual in its own way. "Friday Night" is a fun song, too, with play-along lyrics that beg to be screamed while dancing. "As You Turn Away" is very vocally strong, most of the song being performed by Hillary Scott. Her voice soars along with both Charles Kelly and Dave Haywood supporting her. The song is very touching, and the lyrics capture the idea of a love gone bad, describing the girls as she "reaches out" as he "turns away." The guitar in most of the songs is very lyrical and gives them that country edge that draws fans from both the country and alternative side of music. Other songs include piano and violin.
iTunes has already seen an overwhelming response to the album, most of their songs reaching full popularity after only being released today. Lady Antebellum tweeted early today, "Own The Night is now available. We are so excited for this album & so thankful for our amazing fans!" This album is being sold in stores now, as well as through iTunes, Amazon, and Walmart.com. Visit Lady Antebellum's Website for a free acoustic download of "Just A Kiss."
