Shhh! Don't tell, but for weeks now "The Lying Game" has been climbing the charts of the hit channel ABC Family. After taking the time slot of the show "The Secret Life of an American Teenager," it gained a lot more followers. The new time slot allows for them to play the previous episode before so that you can catch up on what's going on. And with this show, you have to keep up. It is a drama-filled show that has a shared main character played by Alexandra Chando, who plays twins Sutton and Emma.
Just as a recap, Sutton has lived a life filled with her BMW and her family's mansion, while Emma has been shifted from one foster care to the next, ultimately ending up with her running from the cops after a confrontation with her sleazy, sex obsessed "brother" Travis. After being lied to her whole life, Sutton is ready to break away from her fabulous life to trace her roots. With the help of her best friends' drop out brother, she has found herself living in a leaking apartment with a guy who obviously wants to be more than just friends. Meanwhile, Emma is stealing not only Sutton's life, but her boyfriend.
In last week's episode, Sutton's family has been getting pretty suspicious and aggravated with
all of Emma's questions about her birth mother. It has become clear that Sutton's adopted mother does not know much about where Sutton came from. However, her dad and her best friend's dad are up to something. There has been focus upon a picture of the two with a mysterious woman in the middle who is definitely not their adopted mother. The new episode answers a few lingering questions for us. What are they trying to hide? And who is in the nursing home that keeps being brought up? And what is going on with Emma and Sutton's now ex?
This week episode was jam-packed with more than I was expecting. Emma has figured out that not only does Sutton's dad and her best friend's dad know her mother, but so does her other best friend's mother. All we keep hearing is this name, Anne. The episode keeps us guessing until about half way through. Sutton and the guy she's been shacking up with returns home, but Sutton doesn't go home. After finding out some information, she goes over to the psychiatric home. The receptionist recognizes her due to the help of her best friend's dad and the picture he sent her. She tells her that she is Sutton and that move got her her very own room in the loony bin. Sutton knows that her mom has to be there somewhere so she flirts with a cute employee until he reluctantly lets her leave her room and use his key. Within moments, Sutton is standing in front of her mom, Anne, saying, "Hi, Mom." Anne freaks out after Sutton tells her that Emma is alive and living with Sutton's parents as her. Anne has been lead to believe that Emma is dead, but why?
Meanwhile, back at the life of luxury everything has taken a turn for the worst. Recently, Sutton's best friend's dance partner who wanted to be her boyfriend is now in the hospital. Covered in blood and hooked up to tubs, the gang is there to see him. Emma goes in for a visit, and he mutters something about her best friend's dad, Sutton and Anne. Before Emma can make out what he is trying to say, his heart rate drops and she is rushed out the room. Later, the girls go back to sitting by the pool while Emma confesses of her best friend's dad being involved. Once her dad gets back, Emma returns home to a house alone. It seems that her little sister never made it home after her special night with her boyfriend which sent her parents in a frenzy. Unaware of what was going on, Emma gets cozy in robe, when all of a sudden she hears someone. She turns to her right and there is her "brother," Travis.
Tune in to ABC Family at 8pm for next week's episode to keep up with the growing mystery!
