Have you been wondering how and when A began her trickery in "Pretty Little Liars?"It started a couple of days before Halloween in the year 2008. It was when Alison was still alive, well and breathing.
This Halloween special begins with Alison telling a story to a little boy to scare him. The story is that while two twins were waiting for their parents to get home, one twin lifted a knife and stabbed her sister, a smile growing across her face. Her parents sent her to a mental hospital, but she escaped and now kills anyone who goes trick-or-treating on Halloween.
After the story, Alison asks the group which Brittney Spears Hannah should be. Noel Kahn then rolls up in his car, inviting them all to his party. They freak out when they go by a creepy haunted house. They decide to get ready at Spencer's house. Toby is outside and when Emily goes to talk to him, he tells her his dad got remarried and his new wife has a daughter who is moving in as well.
Alison is at a costume shop when Noel puts his hand over her mouth and she freaks out and tells him to makes sure he brings that kind of stuff to Halloween. She then sees who she later discovers to be Jenna looking at the costumes Jenna says she is going to go as Lady Gaga, but Alison plans to dress as her as well. Alison tells Jenna to go as someone else and Jenna agrees since they are going to the same party. Alison then gets a mysterious text that says, "I'm watching you." She gets freaked out and starts looking around to see who it is, but the identity of the person remains a secret.
Spencer writes a speech for an acceptance for the debate team that she hasn't won yet. Aria leaves a note for her dad at his work and runs into Ezra for the first time. Meanwhile, Hannah is watching a scary movie and the phone rings … nobody answers, but it rings again and Alison asks if she was at the costume shop and if she sent her a text. The doorbell rings and Hannah sees that her mom had to get a ride home from a cop since she had too much to drink. Emily finds out that Ben, her boyfriend, is spreading false rumors that they slept together, but she tells her friends it's true.
Alison and Aria spend the afternoon together only to come across Aria's dad kissing a girl he teaches in his car. The scene then switches over to Alison and her brother Jason. He finds a package for her with a voodoo doll as well as a note inside. The note reads, "Now it's my turn to torture you." She is terrified and hides the note where no one will find it. The cop who brought Hannah's mom home is back at the door and suggests he wants to be romantically involved with her, an offer she declines. Alison tells Spencer she has a friend on the election committee and that the election is down to a couple of votes. Alison tell Spencer that she can help her win the election. Alison and Emily are talking and Emily tells Alison that Ben and she aren't really sleeping with each other. Back at school they are waiting for the announcement of whether or not Spencer got elected or not. She wins by two votes.
It's finally Halloween. The girls are getting ready when Aria claims she doesn't feel like going to the party. It is as she says this that Spencer sees someone watching them from outside. Alison guilts Aria into going to the party even though she knows she isn't up for it after discovering her dad's affair.
Alison goes as Lady Gaga, Spencer goes as Mary Queen of Scotts, Aria goes as a witch, Emily goes as an Indian and Hannah goes as Britney Spears. The see Jenna as Lady Gaga and Alison is not too thrilled about that. Alison asks Jenna if she wants to be in their group of friends and she declines.
All of the girls are wondering what happened to Alison and receive a text from her that says, "I'm in trouble, come alone." They get an address from her and arrive at the location, finding the house to be very spooky. The person they saw when they were getting ready is at the house. When they find Alison, she says the guy is trying to kill her. They watch from a keyhole and try to help Alison; the person is pushing and trying to hurt her. It is only later that they find out the entire thing is a joke between Alison and Noel to see how deeply they, as her friends, care about her.
When they get back to the party, the girls discover that Noel didn't make it to the house, raising the question as to who was really at the house. Everyone will have to watch the new season, starting in January, to find out!
