A small fire Friday night caused minimal damage to the Taco Bell restaurant on South Main St. in Farmville. According to Farmville Fire Chief Ben Sears, a customer noticed a spark on the outside of the building from one of the electrical signs. The building was evacuated and fire crews arrived on the scene within minutes. They shut off the heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit (HAVC) since the fire was near the top of the structure.
According to Sears, the blaze began around 10 p.m. The illuminated Taco Bell sign burned and melted down the side of the building. The location was closed for the remainder of the night but reopened the next day.
