'Castle' Battles to Prevent Brutal Murder and World War III

Monday night's episode of "Castle" was

a continuation of last week's installment.

It featured a CIA agent who went rogue

and then pushed Castle and Beckett's car

into the harbor resulting in a cliffhanger

ending to last week's episode.

This episode begins with Beckett and

Castle trapped in the car as it slowly

sinks to the bottom of the harbor. Castle

dives to the back of the car to grab the

gun, which has been thrown into the

trunk. Beckett struggles to unbuckle her

seatbelt, which jammed after the slam.

Castle, after grabbing the gun, manages

to shoot Beckett and himself out of the

sinking car. Once back on land, it is clear

there is tension between Beckett and the

other detectives seeing as Castle (a

civilian) is allowed information that

the professionals are not.

The viewers at home are shown

that the rogue agent is working on

something big enough to threaten

the United States. The victim of this

episode has his pockets turned out,

as if the killer was searching for

something.

The CIA turns up on the crime scene

and is furious they weren't kept in

the loop. Castle and Beckett are taken

off the case, though that doesn't stop

them. Beckett uncovers a weakness

in the economy that could ruin the

entire country.

Castle returns home and is presented

a lead by the head CIA agent,

Sophia Conrad, who was also a former

flame of Castle's. She also found

Castle's murder wall; a large amount

of information with which Castle

still is trying to track down Beckett's

shooter from the last season. The

Conrad reveals that the rogue agent

had several on-shore bank accounts,

which, seeing as they are on U.S. soil,

the CIA can't investigate.

Meanwhile, the other detectives

canvass chess parks, trying to find

out information about their victim.

Beckett reveals that the rogue agent

had over $2,000,000 in six different

accounts.

The other detectives find out that the

most common denominator for the

chess parks would be an IMF agent.

The agent reveals that they talked

about economic theory and the episode

later reveals that the agent used

multiple names to avoid detection.

Castle finds a secret room full of information,

all of which would lead

to World War III, in which the U.S.

would be predicted to surrender in

2017.

A small girl would be the cause of

all of this, equating her to Helen of

Troy. Someone manages to destroy

the evidence; however, it isn't the actual

bad guy. After a drive, the rogue

agent reveals that all of the money is

tied to military industrial companies,

which are tied to Eastern Europe. He

believes that it is a CIA set up, which

the CIA does not believe.

After the rogue agent is found

killed in a sound proof room, the CIA

instantly believes his theory might be

correct and puts the agency on lockdown.

Conrad's assistant agent is

shown as the mole, and he causes a

hostage situation in order to escape.

After a long night of researching, it is

revealed the young girl is the daughter

of a close friend of the Chinese

Finance Minister, and a strong supporter

of the Chinese buying of U.S.

debt.

If U.S. agents kill the man's daughter,

he might convince his government

to stop the buying of U.S. debt

— leaving the U.S. stopped in its

tracks. Shockingly, both the man and

his daughter were in the country at

that moment.

After arriving, it is revealed that

Castle's former flame, lead agent

Sophia Conrad is really the mole. It

is also revealed that she was never

truly on the side of the U.S. after all.

She lets slip that Castle's father was

CIA as well but is then killed by the

former fake mole.

Both Castle and Beckett chase after

the man sent to kill the little girl,

leaving Castle on his knees. Beckett

tackles the shooter, preventing the

murder of a little girl and the start of

a third world war.
