Dierks Bentley Finds His Way 'Home'

Country music artist Dierks Bentley released "Home," his sixth album, on Feb. 7. In this album, Bentley mixes a number of love songs and party songs.

He starts the CD off with his single "Am I the Only One." This song is an up-tempo tune about a guy who is ready to go out and party, but all of his buddies have decided to stay in for the night. This song also hit country charts and airwaves across the nation via country radio.

The next two songs on the album continue with a drinking theme. The first is "Gonna Die Young." This tune is about a guy who sees a girl he finds attractive when he's drunk. Bentley describes the feeling with the lines, "She's one in a million/I'm a million to one/Hot dang honey like poison/Oh my, I'm gonna die."

The next song is titled "Tip it on Back." It's a slower song with the predominant instrument being a mandolin. Bentley speaks about drinking his troubles away with lines like, "I feel the sweet release of a Friday night/For a couple of hours gonna run this town until it runs dry/Tip it on back, make it feel good, sip a little more than you know you should." This song could resonate with many people who turn to measures like drinking when times are tough.

"Home" is the next song, and it changes things up a bit. It is a slower, patriotic song that can be appreciated by all. It's an honest song about where the U.S. is and who we are in troubled times. This song can relate to everyone and it reminds us that "It's been a long, hard ride/And I won't lose hope/This is still the place/That we all call home."

The next song is a toe-tapping tongue-in-cheek tune called "Diamonds Make Babies." In this clever song, Bentley speaks to his buddy about how easy it is to go straight from getting married to right away having babies, even if you talk about waiting. It has a catchy chorus that's hard not to sing along to, and he ends the song wishing his friend luck and telling him that it's going to be great. It seems that Bentley enjoys being a family man and is saying you'll enjoy it, too.

Bentley then slows it back down slightly with "In My Head." Anyone who has ever been dumped can relate to this song. He speaks about a girl moving on, but admits he hasn't. He still recalls memories of them together. He croons, "You're still in my car, in my head/You're still in that T-shirt on my bed."

The next song is the soft ballad "Breathe You In." It is a song of longing for your lover to be there with you. Bentley sounds completely smitten in this song with lyrics like, "The smell of your hair/Falling on my face/Those red wine kisses/Give a buzz with just one taste/Girl you blow me away."

The last two songs on the album are "Heart of a Lonely Girl" and "Thinking of You." "Heart of a Lonely Girl" is a mid-tempo song that says, "The hurtiest thing in the whole wide world is the heart of a lonely girl." It talks about how a man needs to be there for his girl and if he isn't, she starts looking elsewhere.

The CD ends with a sweet tune titled "Thinking of You." This song lets the world know that while Bentley is out on the road, he is thinking of his wife and kids. Also, for a birthday present for his daughter Evie, he recorded her singing this song and then added it to the track. It's a song that will warm hearts all around.

After previously attempting a bluegrass album with his record "Up on a Ridge," Bentley returns to a more mainstream feel with "Home." However, he doesn't leave his banjo and mandolin at home with songs like "Am I the Only One" and "Tip It on Back." He mixes things up with several different party songs and sweet loving songs with clever lyrics for all to enjoy.
