After Charlotte Bless pleads for help to newspaper reporter Ward Jansen, Jansen and his associate travel to Miami, Fla. to attempt to get convicted murderer Hillary Van Wetter released from death row. While Charlotte has maintained only a written relationship with Hillary, she insists he is innocent, as they have become engaged. However, when Charlotte falls for Jansen’s younger brother Jack, things get far more tangled than any newspaper can weave through.

This documentary-style film follows police officers Brian Taylor and Mike Zavala as they return to duty after being taken off due to a shooting. The film follows the two officers as they go on with their day-to-day lives, focusing on the difficulty of leaving the job of a cop at home. Using handheld devices, the movie shows the impossibility of keeping relationships as well as the issues police officers deal with on their job.
