Longwood faculty member Billy Tucker, previously of Information & Instructional Technology Services’ User Support Services Department, is now moving to the Digital Education Collaborative (DEC) as an instructional technology trainer. The DEC “directs a policy and training framework to enhance online education by ensuring quality, academic rigor and consistency,” states the DEC page on the university’s website. A great deal of the DEC’s efforts are geared toward hybrid/ blended learning. Tucker’s work with faculty and staff on instructional training needs will continue, his focus being on Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2010, video production and Echo 360 Lecture Capture. He will offer open office hours in Ruffner Hall’s Leather Lounge every Thursday from 3-5 p.m. and each Friday from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
