Everyone’s looking forward to Fall Break, right? Who isn’t? For some, it’s the first time back home since the start of the semester.
Whether you are loaded down with credits this semester or taking a lighter workload, a nice four-day weekend in a familiar place with family and a sense of familiarity is always needed.
Many of you are probably thinking about spending time with family, finally sleeping in your own bed and just having a whole weekend for rest and relaxation.
This article is not meant to tell you how to spend your weekend at home, but rather, it is to help remind you to relax and recharge.
Of course, I’m sure many of you do not want to be thinking about homework during Fall Break, nor are any of you even remotely interested in checking to see if you have any homework to do over the weekend.
Most professors are generous and will not assign too much this weekend; however, you may have some upcoming assignments due that you definitely don’t want to leave behind during your weekend back home.
Best advice? Don’t. Put. It. Off. In fact, get it done now, if you still have some things to catch up on.
Now, if you actually prefer to leave it for the weekend, by all means go for it; however, I strongly recommend trying to enjoy yourself as much as possible while you have time home.
Understanding that you probably have few and far between long breaks home, utilize your time by appreciating the break you have with friends and family. When you value the time spent at home, you realize things you might not have recognized before, like how much you miss home. Value what your family has done for you and, most importantly, find a sense of calm while you are at home.
One thing all students can relate to is the fact that life can be stressful and chaotic in all sorts of ways.
Stress impacts all Longwood students in several different forms; we all have our own stressors, and we have different means of dealing with them. Yet we all share a common method to de-stress: taking a break, more specifically a nice four-day weekend.
Fall Break really is an opportunity to take a break from college life; don’t think about what work will be assigned the following week, upcoming presentations or what needs to get finished soon.
Look at Fall Break as a time to rest and recharge yourself in order to come back ready to get going for next week.
Consider the phrase, “cross that bridge when you come to it.”
The whole point of a nice, early Fall Break is to relax and enjoy yourself.
If you constantly think ahead, focusing on coming back to school, odds are you will miss your relaxing time-slot and end up dreading class come Wednesday morning.
Well, you might end up dreading class anyway, depending on your outlook. Still, please try and find the value in your Fall Break do whatever you can to relax and recharge you!
