Would you have sex while on your period?
It sounds gross for both parties involved, what with blood getting on the condom and his pubic hairs, you possibly leak- ing onto the bed and
of course the awkward removal of the tampon or pad before you even start to get freaky.
That being said, if both of you are down for it, it has a few benefits.
1. Your boyfriend will not want to use his fingers to get you ready down there, but he won’t have to because the blood will act as a natural lubricant, as gross at that sounds. Some women are also extra horny during that time of the month, so you can forego foreplay altogether, if you want to.
2. Orgasms can relieve menstrual cramps, according to a quote from Sex Coach Amy Levine in a WomensHealthMag.com article.
If you’re suffering from horrible cramps that’ll prevent you from having any fun during the act, though, refrain from sex. Wait until the cramps have subsided, then try it.
3. The best benefit I can see from having sex on your period is how orgasms can stop your period sooner than expected. An article on lovepanky. com says that involuntary muscle spasms along the uterine wall cause the blood to flow out over three or four days and that orgasms create stronger spasms that will make the blood flow out quicker, causing your period to last only one or two days.
So, if you and your partner want to have sex while you’re on your period, there are a few steps you should take to ensure the process is clean and safe.
Stick to the missionary position. It stops the blood from flowing too much. Put a few towels under you to keep blood off the sheets and keep tissues nearby for when you’re done – you don’t want to sit up and have everything spill out, plus it’ll help your guy start cleaning off himself before he makes for the bathroom.
If your first couple of days are generally heavy- flow days, avoid having sex until the third or fourth day because the lighter flow could help prevent extreme leakage when you stand up. To avoid any of this, try having sex in the shower.
Also, make sure he wears a condom. There are rare cases of women getting pregnant after having sex on their period but an- other concern would be to reduce the risk of getting a sexually transmitted disease. The condom will also keep the blood off his penis, so there’s less clean-up for him to worry about and fewer qualms about doing it in the first place. But if you’re feeling brave, make sure you have access to the morning after pill within 72 hours of him ejaculating – even if you’re on the pill.
And don’t forget to remove your tampon! If you use pads, however, you can keep it on your panties and have him just move them aside before he goes in. He could enjoy how tight you are, and it’s an easy protection against leakage when you’re done – just let him pull out and slide your pad and underwear back into place.
The most important thing is to be confident, have fun and understand that you can back out at any time, and if your partner wants to stop, it’s nothing against you.
