First Game Night: Hosted by Lancer Productions in the Student Union lounge

Lancer Productions made sure that students wouldn’t have a reason to be bored on this past Saturday night, by hosting a game night in the lounge of the Student Union. Late Night Director of Lancer Productions, Jessica Hamilton said, “This game night was intended for students to be able to come and have a chill time, and make use of the lounge.”

Lancer Productions provided various gaming systems and video games that students would be interested in playing, as well as a conventional popcorn machine. Student, Carol Ann Bulger, seemed to really appreciate that there was popcorn at the event, stating, “The popcorn is very good and it’s free, so even better! I love the cute, authentic containers that it comes in.”

The Student Union also provided Ping-Pong, pool and numerous board games that can be easily accessible for students at any time. Sophomore, Julie Kohler, explains, “I really enjoyed

playing Ping-Pong and interacting with different people.”

Student Union staff member, Ericka Goines, states, “Normally a few people are in here playing Ping-Pong and pool, but there has definitely been a bigger turnout tonight.”

Some students, like Ben Dutton, attended game nights like this last year. Dutton stated, “I’ll probably come back if they have more this year.”

Yet, other students like freshman, Amanda Duncan, were not aware of all of the extra activities that the lounge has to offer the Longwood community. Duncan explains, “This is my first time coming to the lounge because I wanted to check out game night. I will definitely come back to the lounge for different events that they host, like Young Life.”

Hamilton ensures that Lancer Productions wants students to realize that the “Student Union is the place to hang out. We hope that students will catch on to all that the lounge has to offer; so that once the new Student Union is built, people will utilize it even more.”
