Seven days. That’s how long it’s been since Longwood University freshman Anjelica “AJ” Hadsell, 18, was last heard from before being pronounced missing by police Tuesday, March 3. AJ’s family is now offering an award of $3,000 to anyone with information leading to the whereabouts of their daughter.
AJ was on spring break when she sent an “unusual” text message to her mother early Tuesday morning before disappearing without notice.
“The conversation, in my opinion, was kind of off,” AJ’s mother told 13 News Now. “I can’t be 100 percent sure I know that was my daughter I was texting. I know how she talks and I know the type of things she says.”
Family and friends are still actively searching for AJ, and Police have conducted a variety of searches by way of ground, water and air.
Investigators say there is still no sign of criminal activity involving AJ’s disappearance.
According to WRIC, her cell phone has been turned off—her car still parked in her family’s driveway. AJ’s friend recently found her credit card sliced in pieces one block from her home.
In a release, Longwood University said campus police are assisting with resources needed to find AJ. “We have reached out to the Longwood community for any information that could be helpful, and we continue to be in regular contact with both family members and investigators.”
State records show currently there are over 100 women missing in Virginia whose cases remain unfounded.
Angelica “AJ” Hadsell is portrayed as 5′ 6’'—she weighs 120 pounds and has a mole under her bottom lip.
If you have any information that could lead to finding AJ call Norfolk police 757-664-7026 or Longwood campus police 434-395-2091.
