Barnes & Noble Bookstore closed until Thursday, Aug. 18.

Due to last night’s lightning-caused fire in the northeast Longwood Landings building, the Longwood Barnes & Noble Bookstore has closed in order to assess the water damage caused by the extinguishing of the fire.

“We're hoping to know the extent of the damage in the next couple of hours. Howhowever, we will not be revealing that (information) to the public when we know,” said Longwood Bookstore Manager, Amber Clark.

Clark along with her assistant manager and textbook manager went to the building last night to cover any products or merchandise that could potentially be damaged by the water. This prevented any harm to many items in the bookstore excluding textbooks, which suffered most of the water damage. Other parts of the bookstore including the café remain unharmed.

The bookstore expects to reopen with regularly scheduled hours on Thursday, August 18 and recommends that students place all orders online at http://longwood.bncollege.com and to follow them on social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) for any updates or email sm342@bncollege.com with any questions or concerns.
