“Just getting to know people. You never really know who you’ll meet. I’ll never forget my first year here; there was a girl sitting over by the pizza bar when we had one and she was in tears. I went over to her to see what was wrong. I asked her if she was home sick, which that was why she was crying. So I sat there and talked to her and told some of my corny jokes and we laughed. Then the next day she came back in and we talked again and ever since that day I just wanted to make people feel good because a lot of these students here are a long way from home and I understand that because I've been away from home too. And for some to show that they care and just want to comfort you and just want to make you feel good, which in return makes me feel good. I also enjoy getting to know everyone too. I’ve been working here for eight years. I’ve watched two full classes graduate from Longwood. I’ve meet a lot of good people here. I really enjoyed coming to work and just talking to people and getting to know them. I’m just glad I’m able to make people feel welcomed here and have an impact on people in a positive way. I enjoy my job but i also enjoy all of you guys too. Some days i’ll come to work in a bad mood and people will stop by and say hi and also tell me to feel better, and that makes my day a little better because it shows me that people do care,” said Brown.
