The Fashion Roundup: Coachella inspires future spring fashion trends

The Fashion Roundup: Coachella inspires future spring fashion trends

Although Coachella has yet to begin, it’s not too early to incorporate those festival-esque styles into your everyday look. While the annual three-day festival is known for its wide variety of musical appearances, there are also numerous free-spirited fashion trends that consistently emerge from the event.

This year, one of the biggest trends expected to make an appearance at Coachella is floral printed tops. A floral print is extremely easy to integrate into one’s wardrobe. If you want to go with a modest touch, a hint of floral can go a long way. If you’re on the more optimistic or daring side, there’s nothing wrong with considering a bit of a bold floral touch on everything. If a more feminine look is meant to be achieved, needless to say, floral is certainly the print for you.

As of more recently, off-the-shoulder tops have revamped themselves and have essentially earned their spot back in the fashion scene. They are incredibly cute and flirty, while giving off a more bohemian vibe. One can find them in any print or fabric and they’re simple to pair with other items. In addition, the off-the-shoulder look is not exclusive to just tops.

American model and current Victoria's Secret Angel Taylor Hill rocked the off-the-shoulder look while wearing a romper on a grocery spree. Meanwhile, following in Hill’s steps, television personality Whitney Port Warren was recently photographed wearing an off-the-shoulder dress. Needless to say, with this off-the-shoulder look, there's nothing you can't do, as it’s evidently versatile.

Another trend that has been a key look for many millennials, and is slowly but surely making its way back to the top of the fashion industry, is denim. Yes, that’s correct, denim. As a matter of fact all things denim, such as cut-off shorts, skirts and knee-length dresses, have made an immense comeback.

A plethora of well-known public figures and actors have jumped onto the bandwagon, from Kendall Jenner, Emma Roberts, Justine Skye, Bella Hadid, Freida Pinto and Chiara Ferragni, to name a few. To incorporate denim into your everyday look, stray away from the casual denim jeans and instead branch out to other pieces such as dresses and skirts. To break it down, a denim dress could easily be coupled with a simple pair of ballet flats or, to dress it up a bit, a chunky heeled wedge.

In terms of footwear, lace-up sandals have indeed made it onto the list. Though relatively new, it seems they have been receiving a lot of attention since last fall, and they’ve been introduced in all sorts of prints, patterns and colors. A pair of lace-up sandals can be the focus of your outfit or could help subtly pull it all together.

While scoping out for the perfect Coachella-esque look can possibly break the bank, these “high-end” looks don’t need to cost a fortune if you look in the right places. Zara, Old Navy, Express, Asos, Francesca's and Topshop are just a few clothing stores that offer these items at an inexpensive price.

As the trail is blazed into the spring season, it’s only a matter of time until these fashions will make their stop at Longwood.
