President Haleigh Pannell mentioned that there is still not a decision on Commencement at this time, but urged students to be checking their emails for it, and one will be out by April 10.

In this week’s Student Government Association (SGA) meeting, the senate met online through Zoom to discuss questions about the future and elections.

In Open Forum, Freshman Class President Cole Pillow asked if students on campus could get escorted home at night if they felt unsafe. President Haleigh Pannell answered yes, and students can go to the blue lights to do so or call LUPD at (434) 395-2000.

President Pannell also mentioned that there is still not a decision on Commencement at this time, but urged students to be checking their emails for it, and one will be out by April 10.

Senator Camryn Ridpath asked if there will be an option for students to make their classes Pass/Fail and if the withdrawal date will be extended. In an email from Matt McWilliams on Friday, March 27, it was announced that students are able to pick a Pass/Fail alternative if they choose to, and the withdrawal deadline has been extended to Friday, April 24. Students are urged to reach out to their academic advisors to make the best decision for themselves regarding this option.

In the Adviser’s Report with Dean Cheryl Steele, it was encouraged for students to practice social distancing and minimize contact with others in order to keep themselves and the community safe.

In the President’s Report, Pannell announced that the Intent to Run form for SGA has been extended to March 31 at 3 p.m.

In the Vice President’s Report, Catherine Swinsky announced that anyone who gets elected to serve on SGA for the next academic year will have to attend the recognition and installment ceremony on April 19 at 4 p.m. on Zoom.

The next SGA meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 31 at 3:45 p.m. on Zoom.
