Fashion With Facial Coverings

Emerging into the new normal, amid the viral pandemic, are facial coverings. Due to the increased Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 measures/recommendations, facial coverings are now a new normal that has been put in place. These semi-thin quality coverings have made a lasting appearance with the increase of its presence in institutions, place of employment, media and now most recently the fashion industry. As facial coverings will likely be worn on walks, grocery store run or in the gym, designers are certainly making an impression.

That’s right, designer facial coverings made a featured strut onto numerous individuals, which has morphed its creativity with a price. While this virus dominates the lives of many individuals, the fashion industry has somehow managed to embark on a safety measure item with a stylish concept. In doing so, this has further allowed such brand name companies; Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Serre, Gucci, Dior, Kate Spade, etc., to create their own rendition of this covering. In doing so, this has turned an effortless look to a safe and stylish debut.

Although a significant amount of people have opted to make their own facial coverings during the phases of quarantine, brands have certainly made it their mission to provide the general public with this accessory. In turn, as the more suggested quality of a facial covering is cloth, opposed to the N95 facial covering, these designer brands have essentially gravitated to that with their cloth-like material covering. However, some designers, have gone above and beyond to have their product used in a form of support. According to Vogue.com, well-known designer Christian Siriano "turned his business into a mask-making machine for hospitals.”

In doing so, designers have expressed this same gesture by using their platform to support the betterment of others but also to continuously advocate the use of facial coverings as a required CDC COVID-19 measure that is beneficial.

Yet, contrary to these designer facial coverings making an early arrival to your nearest outlet mall at a varied price of $15-$125, other outlets such as Amazon, Walmart and Target have stylish masks ranging between $4 and up depending on if they're sold in singles or pack form.

As Vogue.com frankly put, “Masks are not a fashion accessory, but they do take up a fair amount of real estate on your face, so it’s not surprising that people are looking for aesthetically pleasing ones."
