In SGA: approval of new clubs. 2021-22 budget

In this week’s Student Government Association (SGA) meeting, the current senate met for the final time and approved two new clubs and the 2021-2022 budget.

In Special Orders of the Day, Historian Faulk and the senate approved Greeks for Change, an organization that puts on risk management programs to create a better, safer community, and The Wood, an organization made to be a creative and safe space for all art forms. Both can begin meeting as clubs effective immediately.

Also in Special Orders of the Day, President Reveley visited senate to thank them for their work and dedication throughout the past year.

In New Business, Treasurer Jones shared the 2021-2022 budget. They allocated and approved $575,515.61 for the academic year.

In Announcements, Freshman Class Representative Selhorst announced that Elwood’s Cabinet is open on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:00-8:00 p.m. 

In the Adviser’s Report, Dean Cheryl Steele announced that the Citizen Leader Awards will be livestreamed on Facebook Live on Sunday, April 18 at 4:00 p.m.

In the President’s Report, President Bowen shared the senate’s accomplishments from the past year. They include, but are not limited to lights on Stubbs lawn, reworked the SDIC statement, held multiple town halls, amended SFC budget, amended constitution for club approval process and revamped Lancer Link.

The next SGA meeting will be held with the new senate on Tuesday, April 20 at 3:45 p.m. in the Soza Ballroom and on Zoom.
